A Journey of Storytelling, Changing the Narrative

13 November, 2017 93 Comments 455

I am David, a Burundian studying in Kigali. During my lifetime journey, I have always seen how people would have misconceptions about certain countries and communities, this is because they have heard different stories which are wrong from the reality. This leads to people being discriminated, being ignored; It’s is time to change the narrative, and we can only to that by narrating real stories. I believe in the power of storytelling in changing the narrative of certain communities. Stories can kill or they can heal.

    Hi David,

Wonderful. Hold high David, your short story is touching and reflects the reality. I am looking forward to hearing from your other stories. Next, please with your stories try to talk about the untold story of problems that African children who live with their step-mothers face.

    Best,

Stories have great impact on people’s lives. MAny of the african stories have been told by the western world. It time to take this back and tell our own stories about our communities.

Plus, positive areas about Africa should be inclusive in your story, we’ve been developing over time and have achieved a lot that should be recognized by shown to the world. Good luck with this, blessings.
